Kelley Hajar has spent the last four years of her life devoted to understanding the value of social media, how it applies to world of advertising and educating brands on how they can best make social media work for them. Passionate about both social media and communications, Kelley has found her home in linking emerging technologies with brands looking to utilize new platforms for communication purposes.
While working as the VP of Sales for Nexopia, Canada’s largest social networking site for youth, Kelley was one of the first people in Canada given the task of monetizing a social network, and has done so successfully. Working from Nexopia’s offices in Edmonton, Kelley has managed to develop successful relationships with Canada’s largest ad agencies, helping Nexopia become a nationally recognized name. At Nexopia, Kelley has worked on teen targeted campaigns for Pepsi, Cineplex, TD Canada Trust, and Live Nation Canada to name a few.
When Kelley is not developing innovative ways for brand to utilize social media to engage their target audience, she loves spending time with her husband, volunteering with the Big Brother Big Sister program, cheering on the Oilers and traveling to the Middle East.
Fun Fact: Growing up as a diehard Oilers fan, Kelley was thrilled when, after University, she was able to land a position with the Oilers. Little did she know that on her first day of work, she would be seated in the cubicle next to her future husband. A seven month ‘secret’ office romance, a trip with the Oilers to the Stanley cup finals, and 4 years later Kelley is happily married to a man who is still in the Oilers organization.
